The first step is to determine whether your finish is high gloss (high polish) or satin (rubbed). High polish finishes are mirror like and reflect light and images. High gloss can be wood tone, black or literally any color as long as it is shiny. If your finish is high gloss, you will need to purchase the high gloss polish or polish kit.
Satin finishes are usually rubbed in one-direction with the grain and are dull looking. Most common household furniture fall into the satin category. Satin can be black, wood tone, or literally any color as long as it is dull (not shiny). If your finish is satin, you will need to purchase the satin polish or polish kit.

Piano lamps use different types of bulbs. Some lamps use T-bulbs which provide 40-120 watts of light. Others use LED lighting technology or Halogen bulbs which provide plenty of bright light. Check out our selection of piano lamps.
You can order extra bulbs at the time of purchase, or you can visit our extra light bulb category to purchase bulbs.

Take a tape measurer and measure the length and width on the top (seat) of the piano bench. Most piano benches come in standard sizes. If your measurements do not exactly match those in the drop down menu (on bench cushions page), choose the measurement that is closest to yours.
Front measurements are taken from the front end of the keys, across the entire piano to the back end. Side measurements are taken from side to side at the mid-point of the piano. You must try to measurement precisely since piano covers cannot be returned because of mistakes in measurement.
A Dampp Chaser is a humidity control system made for your piano. For detailed information please visit our Dampp-Chaser page.
Every piano can benefit from the damp chaser system. Controlling humidity and dryness is one of the best ways to keep your piano in tune, and avoid many other problems stemming from the effects of excess dryness and humidity.
The Piano Technician's Guild and most manufacturers recommend tuning a piano twice a year. A new piano should be tuned 4 times in the first year as the piano goes through a break-in period, and then twice a year thereafter.
The main reason why your piano goes out of tune is because seasonal changes bring about fluxuations in humidity. Winters are a very dry season both outdoors and indoors and summers are humid. This change back and forth between humidity levels affects all pianos whether new or old, played or un-played.
When a piano has not been tuned for a while, or is exposed to dryness or high humidity, or is just an unstable instrument, it can be very far out of tune and may require a service called a pitch raise. A pitch raise is an extra service that is done before the initial tuning work whereby the tuner either raises or lowers the entire pitch of the piano, in order to help stabilize the instrument. A follow-up tuning is usually required, although in some cases pianos can be given a fine-tuning just after a pitch raise.
Piano regulation is a mechanical fine-tuning of the moving parts in your piano action. For more details on regulation, please visit: http://ptg.org/resources-pianoOwners-regulation.php
